Athox Mining Solutions is launching Globally the Horizontal Crusher Impactor, used in aggregated production, mining operations and recycling applications, usually as a stationary crusher. The equipment crushes the material by intense impacts, originated by the accelerated rotational movement of bars attached to the rotor. This will crush the aggregate inside the crusher, as it collides with the components inside, producing a more cubic shaped material.
According to Paulo José Alves dos Santos, director of engineering and innovation at Athox, the machine is versatile in the production of aggregates, besides generating a high quality product. “Compared to jaw and cone crushers, the crushing forces generated during the impact process reach the fractures of the rock more effectively, as well as break any edges, producing a more cubic material,” he describes.
Due to its structural features, the Horizontal Crusher Impactor has a better cost-benefit ratio, because of its high-inertia rotor design that offers lower power consumption. Crushing by impact is the main principle. “In addition to producing more cubic aggregates, it has a high reduction ratio that can often eliminate the need for a secondary or tertiary crusher,” explains Paulo, pointing out that a reduction ratio of 1:15 to 1:20 or more is very realistic for an impact crusher.
“A two-rotor impact crusher with primary, secondary and tertiary production can achieve a ratio of 1:50,” he says. The Athox crusher, on the other hand, is a sturdy machine, with a low maintenance cost, chocks for adjustment of the output grain size material, protectors for the crusher’s feeder opening, with a chain curtain and two rubber curtains, to protect materials that can be thrown out of the equipment.
The main shaft has an oversized dynamic load capacity, designed from grease lubricated spherical roller bearings. It has a tertiary crushing study, enabling excellent control of the maximum particle size achieved in the curve. “The machine is easy to handle, with a rotor locking tool and hydraulic adjustment of the shields to easily regulate the crusher openings,” concludes Paulo.
